Re: [Xen-users] Desktop Environment/GUI Cannot Start After I Have Installed Xen 4.1.3-rc1-pre and Linux Kernel 3.3.0-rc7
Hi,
I have solved the problem. Xen 4.1.x is incompatible with the
onboard graphics of Intel DQ45CB motherboard. I have switched the
graphics adapter to NVIDIA 8400 GS PCI Express x16 and the
combination of Xen 4.1.3-rc1-pre, kernel 3.3.0-rc7, and NVIDIA 8400
GS works well (Xen 4.1.x is compatible with NVIDIA 8400 GS
graphics).
I have also compiled the *latest*
linux kernels 3.x.x for Ubuntu 11.10 Final Release for you to use.
You may download the *latest*
linux kernels from the following links:

Dear
All,
I have just compiled and installed Xen 4.1.3-rc1-pre and the
latest Linux kernel 3.3.0-rc7 in Ubuntu 11.10 Final Release. I am
able to login to my Desktop Environment/GUI when Linux 3.3.0-rc7
is *enabled* and Xen 4.1.3-rc1-pre is *disabled*. However, when
Linux 3.3.0-rc7 and Xen 4.1.3-rc1-pre are both enabled, I am
unable to start the default desktop environment/GUI. The menu bar
and status bar in Unity won't show up. Although I cannot login via
the GUI, I can still login through the text console/terminal. I am
able to see that Xen is running properly by executing the command
"sudo xm list". "xm list" shows that Domain 0 is running properly.
It's just that the Desktop/GUI won't start up.
The errors which I think are the most important are reproduced
below:
