If I understand correctly, DomU kernel is the same as mainline kernel from distro. Then yes, boot OK.

Yes, I did. I faced the difficulties with git and failed to reproduce the procedure. But
another approach, per CentOS wiki, worked for me. "Home-made" kernel was successfully tested in VM, as for bare metal - kernel panic again.
Alas, I hadn't a plenty of time for experiments and the solution had to be quick enough, so currently I'm going with KVM
I think I got your point: there is a reason to carry to completion the solution from wiki.xen.org.
