What sort of deployment models are you guys using/looking to use? Specifically I’m interested in if you are running the Ceph OSDs on dedicated storage servers or on the same servers as the client is running (e.g. pooling a cluster’s local disks for use by the cluster’s VMs).

mine would be a series of high end multinode storage systems, we would like to pool together, though we have enough to test both ways for client pools

Thanks for your interest and offer of help. Our XCP team here in Citrix is currently looking at Ceph/RBD support – the current prototype is using upstream qemu (much newer than the one in XCP currently) for the datapath and libvirt’s storage pool driver for the control path. I’ll chat to the guys doing the work to see if there is something you could help with.
