In our case, we were using 4.3 from debian jessie-backports. Upon bootup, 
ganeti had started most of the domains, but at one domain the xl command 
started to hang. As it is a production node, I did not have much time to debug 
it, just restarted the machine. After it, exactly the same happened, the same 
domUs got started and at the very same domain did the xl command hang. After it 
I switched back to 4.2.
Patrick: you can even reboot your machine from console with this:
# echo 'b' > /proc/sysrq-trigger
