Thanks, Edison:

When I booted the XCP VM it the virtual terminal went dark and the VM froze just after booting the XCP ISO (XCP-1.5-beta-base-53341.iso).
  1. What version of Linux did you specify for the XCP VM?
  2. what architecture is your Ubuntu installation - 32-bit or 64-bit?
I tested CentOS 5.7 w/ Xen 3.0.3 inside of VirtualBox 4.1.16 on Mageia 1 (32-bit) and Dom0 was available. However, Dom0 consumed 85% of the 1GB that I had available to give to the VM so I stopped there. (If I add small PV's [e.g., FreeBSD] will Dom0 reduce its memory usage?)

You can use Ubuntu 12.04 + XCP on virtualbox, which works well for me.

  1. I'd like to experiment with XCP by creating a nested arrangment - XCP on VirtualBox - but need to know what "version" of Linux to specify when creating the VM.
  2. I'm currently using a 32-bit host. (Mageia-1 is/was only available as a 32-bit O/S when I installed it.) Does XCP require a 64-bit architecture?
