Dear Tobias Geiger,Thank you for reading through my Xen VGA Passthrough Version 1.6 documentation. I am now trying out your suggestion, i.e. expose the 4th memory range. When I refer to David Techer's official blog and his emails, he only mention the first 3 memory ranges. When I asked David Techer what about the 4th memory range, he said nothing. Let's hope I get lucky and get the yellow exclamation mark with NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS (ie Xen VGA Passthrough to Windows 8 Consumer Preview *PARTIAL* success) FIXED. By the way, what is the problem with my Xen WIKI? Xen.org administrator Mr. Lars Kurth edited my Xen Wiki pages for me. If it works, I will have Xen VGA Passthrough Version 1.7 documentation and FINAL as well. Thank you very much for reading through my documentation and giving me suggestions. I hope it works now. -- Yours sincerely, Mr. Teo En Ming (Zhang Enming) Singapore On 27/03/2012 19:08, Tobias Geiger wrote: Dear Teo, i mean your problem is know, but no known solution exists. That doesn't mean there is no solution, it just means nobody found one yet :) It's spoken/written out many places (xen-devel/xen-users) that VGA passthrough with nvidia works ok with windows xp, but not with windows versions higher than xp. but it works with ati. to get to the actual problem: you could try to also expose the "0xd30...- 0xd307fff" acpi regions. no idea if that helps in any way i just saw that this is the only region you're not mentioning in the patched dsdt.asl good luck - but please try to accept the fact that nobody _knows_ the solution to your problem (well at least nobody i know of). and about the pdf/wiki - ah... forget it Greetings Tobias Am Dienstag, 27. I _DO NOT_ have this problem back when I was doing Xen VGA Passthrough to Windows XP HVM domU with Xen 3.5-unstable. Yes, 3 years ago, back in the year 2009, with Xen 3.5-unstable. Back when Han Weidong was still around in Intel Corporation. I am surprised that you are unable to open my Xen VGA Passthrough Version 1.6 PDF documentation. I have tried opening the file attachment myself and it is not empty. To solve the problem with your email client, I am providing the Xen Wiki link to my Xen VGA Passthrough Version 1.6 PDF documentation. The "easy" solution would be: replace your NVIDIA card with a recent ATI one. Besides the fact that i can't open your PDF (empty file...) it's really really annoying - for various reasons; first: nobody can edit the PDF except you. second: now your pdf is stored in thousands of mailboxes in various versions - if it were a wiki-article or anything else web-based, it would be there only once. i love things which have a definite place... please consider the suggestion many others already made to bring your good intended documentation effort to a technical state and place where everybody has the maximum profit of it: WIKI Thanks and Greetings to Singapore! There is a yellow exclamation mark besides NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS in Device Manager. Device Manager reports: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem. I suspect the above problem has to do with MMIO BARs pBAR:vBAR 1:1 mapping. Could you read through my attached "Xen VGA Passthrough - Version 1.6.pdf" documentation carefully to see if there are any mistakes in this area? Of concern are Sections 3, 4, and 6 in my Xen VGA Passthrough documentation. I am using Xen 4.2-unstable changesets 25070 and 25099 and Linux Kernel 3.3.0. Thank you very much for your kind assistance. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.xen.org/xen-users
