Hi Tim, Well I wasn't thinking in a specific case, instead I was looking for some guidelines to calculate xen servers capacity. For example, given 5 or 6 Linux servers and 2 or three windows servers, how to get their resources use profile using tools like sar, top, vmstat, iostat... and with this data how to plan the capacity in the xen servers (cores, memory, disk I/O, network bandwidth...). I know that each case is different and must be studied, but maybe people with experience in server consolidation can give some guidelines to walk in the right way. Thanks. > On Wed, 2007-05-02 at 23:51 +0200, Angel Lopez wrote: >> Hi, >> >> Could you recommend me some document, application or procedure to do the >> capacity planning for consolidating several physical servers on one (or >> more than one) xen server? >> >> I'm not sure about the correct way to calculate CPU and RAM needs for my >> VM. >> >> Thanks. > > This really depends on the servers you are consolidating and their > usage, unfortunately there is no exact science. > > Can you provide some more information? > > --Tim > > Un saludote. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
