Thanks very much for the information. I have heard about a similar project (if unrelated) called micro-Xen (see here http://de.slideshare.net/xen_com_mgr/xen-14203926).
Has any of this been in the public space, and is it part of the open-source Xen project as well? I couldn't find any more details on it. If it is not part of the open-source Xen project, then is it planned to be open-sourced at some point, or is this a purely proprietary solution?

No, I haven't seen any activity for several years and the people
involved have moved onto other things.
