[Xen-bugs] [Bug 59] Hypervisor enters infinite loop at boot with "(XEN) APIC error on CPU0: 02(02)"

------- Additional Comments From kaf24@xxxxxxxxxxxx 2005-05-30 20:01 -------
The APIC is disabled at reset -- it is up to the BIOS to explicitly enable it,
and uniprocessor BIOSes
generally do not bother.

Please try once again to boot the native Linux kernel that you tried out, but
this time add 'lapic' to the
kernel command line. This will cause it to enable the APIC, and I expect you
will then get a slew of the
same error messages that Xen has been giving you.

If Linux does give APIC error messages then this will confirm that the bug is
not in Xen, but in your
hardware. There are a couple of possible workarounds that we can try out if
this is the case.
