All I can think of now is that the HTTPS passthrough for the vnc console has a 
bug in it. I have passwords with special characters, but no @ symbol to my 
recollection - yet I have never had this problem.

Sure it's not a client tty thing?

Tested in XenCenter 6.1 build 872 and am getting the same results.
