Re: [Xen-API] boxgrinder

Hi Dave,

You could be interested in chaining that with https://github.com/bvox/boxgrinder-xenserver-platform-plugin

A little bit of fog/xenserver glue could also easily produce a BG delivery plugin (https://github.com/bvox/fog-xenserver-examples), or you could use "knife xenserver template create" (https://github.com/bvox/knife-xenserver) to import them in a not-so-automated-fashion.

It's not my intention to spam with our stuff. Hope that helps!

Cheers.

Hi,

I've been playing with boxgrinder

and using it to make CentOS VMs from simple 'spec' files. I'm interested to see if we could use it to produce 'driver domain' VM images.

In case it's useful to anyone else, I've just written a python program to import a generated VM directly into an XCP host:

https://github.com/xen-org/xen-api/pull/688

After running boxgrinder-build, you run

$ import-boxgrinder.py -s http://server -u root -p password foo.xml

If someone wanted to, they could create a boxgrinder plugin to support deployment on XCP. There are already quite a few, including one for EC2. I would have tried this myself but I would have had to learn ruby first :-)

Cheers,
Dave
