Hi all,
my experience is very similar to wangalalei’s.
OpenXenManager is really a good think but it is unstable. I have
to restart it after quite every operation. I was unable to install convirture
2.0 too.
Vern’s XCCP is really a good project, I think that it would be
wonderful if Vern will release a customized VM with all installed like XVP.
I think that XenCenter could be a very good solution, even if it
runs only on windows platform.
Cheers,
Francesco Gallo

Oggetto: RE: [Xen-users] XCP Management Tools Inquiry
hi:
as far as to now,i have tried both openxenmanager(openxencerter) and convirture
2.0,here are some of my experience:
1) for openxenmanager(opencenter),i run it on my window xp ,gui seems great, but
it seems to be too easy to going dead,so i need to restart
it again and again....
2) for convirt 2.0,i tried to install the convirt tool on the xcp host but
failed;the installing script report as follows:
[root@xenserver-xcp-1 scripts]# ./convirt-tool setup
DISTRO RedHat
VER 0.1.1-25823p
CODENAME xenenterprise
KERNEL 2.6.27.42-0.1.1.xs0.1.1.737.1065xen
ARCH i686
Info: Sourcing
/opt/convirture-tools-2.0/install/managed_server/scripts/../../../common/scripts/RedHat_functions
/opt/convirture-tools-2.0/install/managed_server/scripts/../../../common/scripts/functions:

For Xen, please make sure that you reboot in to a Xen kernel and Xen server is
running, while for KVM, the kvm modules are correctly loaded.

Subject: [Xen-users] XCP Management Tools Inquiry
XCP
Users:
As
many of you are aware, there are several open source products available for
everyone to use when working with XCP. I would like to get some feedback on the
various tools to get a feeling on how people are using XCP and these tools.
Here
are the tools that I am aware of (please respond if you are using another
tool):
・
OpenXenManager
? www.openxenmanager.com
・
Xen
Orchestra Project ? http://xen-orchestra.com
・
Xen
VNC Proxy ? www.xvpsource.org
・
Xen
Cloud Control System - www.xencloudcontrol.com
・
Convirture
? www.convirture.com (not sure if they
enabled XCP APIs or not)
Finally,
in the XCP meeting yesterday, it came up that XenCenter from Citrix should also
be allowed to connect to XCP as it does not now. XenCenter only runs on a
Windows machine and there is no plan to port to Linux so it is unclear how many
XCP users would leverage this tool. I would like to gauge community thoughts on
this as well.
Thanks.
