Thanks, still not helpful unfortunately :-/

I just copied you on a patch[0] which adds some logging to various failure
paths in this area. If you could try that it might (I hope) lead to an
answer.

In your original mail you said your cfg includes a bunch of stuff but ended
with "...", does that mean there was more which you elided? Please could
you post the whole thing.

In particular if it includes a bios = "rombios" line then that will be the
cause of the issue, you can just drop that line and get the default
("seabios").

Apart from the patch I'd suggest dropping/commenting the hdtype=,
videoram=, vga= and cpus= lines for now and seeing if that helps.
