This would be better directed at the centos-virt mailing list. That being said, 
have you looked in /var/log/xen-hotplug.log for more information?
vifname is set from /etc/xen/scripts/vif-common.sh and you could add "set -x" 
there to get more information if what's in the log by default isn't
sufficient.
