[Xen-users] disk controller not working with xen: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88SE9172

Dear Xen folk,

I'm trying to use xen as shipped with debian 7.0.

The system has 13 disks over 3 controllers. When I boot normal linux,
I get this (condensed output from lshw):

product: MV64460/64461/64462 System Controller, Revision B
     disk:0
     disk:1
     disk:2
     disk:3
     disk:4
     disk:5
    product: 88SE9172 SATA 6Gb/s Controller
     disk:0
     disk:1
product: 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family 6-port SATA Controller
     disk:0
     disk:1
     disk:2
     disk:3
     disk:4

When I boot the xen system, I get this:

product: MV64460/64461/64462 System Controller, Revision B
     disk:0
     disk:1
     disk:2
     disk:3
     disk:4
     disk:5
    product: 88SE9172 SATA 6Gb/s Controller
product: 7 Series/C210 Series Chipset Family 6-port SATA Controller
     disk:0
     disk:1
     disk:2
     disk:3
     disk:4

The relevant output from lspci is:

06:00.0 SATA controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88SE9172 SATA
6Gb/s Controller (rev 11)

or for lspci -n :

06:00.0 0106: 1b4b:9172 (rev 11)

From searching the web, I tried appending pci-phantom=06:00,1 as an
argument to xen at boot time, but this did not result in the disks
being visible.

I based my attempted workaround on
<http://lists.xen.org/archives/html/xen-users/2013-06/msg00460.html>.

Can anyone help with this?

  regards, Stanley
