If i understand right you just "backup" the disk images - not the full system? 
This will result in a defect copy of your DomU.

Not shure where you get the SysRQ error, but if i read right this is the 
result of your sysrq command before pausing the domu.

The correct way would be to shutdown the DomU smoothly before copying it if 
you have no other option.

Or did i miss something here?
