Dear David Techer,
I always read my emails very carefully.
But in Xen VGA Passthrough to Windows 8 Consumer Preview, Device
Manager reports that "Windows has stopped this device because it has
reported problems. (Code 43)" for NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS. Device
Manager also reports that "This device isn't using any resources
because it has a problem.". Yellow exclamation mark for NVIDIA
Geforce 8400 GS Xen VGA Passthrough to Windows 8 Consumer Preview is
NOT the issue. I believe the problem has to do with VGA
Card MMIO BARs 1:1 matching, i.e. the file
tools/firmware/hvmloader/acpi/dsdt.asl.
David Techer and Intel Corporation engineers Zhang Xiantao,
Ren Yongjie and Han Weidong and Citrix Engineer Ian Campbell:
Could you help me to check through Sections 3, 4, and 6 of my "Xen
VGA Passthrough - Version 1.6.pdf" documentation to see if there are
any mistakes?
Please also see the following Xen VGA Passthrough to Windows 8
Consumer Preview screenshots for Device Manager.

documentation.

YELLOW EXCLAMATION MARK = NVIDIA DRIVER PROBLEM.
So read carefully my mail
Thanks.
Now stop sending mail without reading the entire
content of my mail.
Dear David Techer,
Could you read through my documentation "Xen VGA
Passthrough - Version 1.6.pdf" to see if there are any
mistakes?
The problem with the device manager yellow exclamation
mark for NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS is that I couldn't run
3d graphics benchmarks. I can only run 2d graphics
benchmarks.
Thank you very much.
Yours sincerely,

Here is a quick resume
- I am not able to see your screenhosts
(Error 403 Forbidden) but it doesn't matter
there is a table where there is a list
of advised driver to use for Windows XP 32/64 or
Linux 32/64
Then for
Linux
====
Driver 275.28 or driver 275.43 works very
well on my Linux 64 bits (Ubuntu Lucid 10.04.4)
Windows XP
==========
You should be well-advised to install the
last NVIDIA drivers for series 275.XX (275.33 or
275.50). It works!
Now If you want to install NVIDIA drivers
>= 280 DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT YOUR DEVICE MARK
WITH A YELLOW MARK.
WINDOWS 8
==========
Two choices
- waiting to have a new NVIDIA driver
that support your stuff
- Testing a old driver. I am not going to
test any driver for you. I am not going to waste
my time testing any old driver.
Big issue: testing an old driver may
imply to reinstall Windows 8 from scratch. Not
tested but I am pretty sure about that.
Dear Xen users, developers and David
Techer,
I have just downloaded, compiled, and
installed Xen 4.2-unstable Changeset 25099
with Xen VGA Passthrough patches. Xen VGA
Passthrough to Windows 8 Consumer Preview
HVM domU is successful. Or I should say
*PARTIALLY* successful. Why? Please see the
screenshots below.

David Techer, could you read through my "Xen
VGA Passthrough - Version 1.5.pdf" to see if
there are any mistakes, which might be
causing the above-mentioned error in device
manager for NVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS? I could
not run 3D graphics benchmarks. I can only
run 2D graphics benchmarks.
Thank you very much.
Yours sincerely,
