The pciback stuff isn't necessary, since fedora builds it as a module (not that 3.0.0 has a pciback, anyway) - it's just documentation to remind me how it is done. With f15's 2.6.38, I had to add '3' to the end of the 'vmlinuz' line in the xen stanza. You might try that, just to see if you can get a text login. (And there is always 'nomodeset' to try.)
