Try passing in the suite=etch extra boot parameter to the Lenny
installer.  It used to work, but I don't know whether it still works.

The Etch installer isn't prepared to run as a Xen PV domU, but if you
replace the kernel with the -xen variant, add the necessary modules to
the initrd and willing to prime the partition setup from the installer
console, it can be used to install a working PV domU.
