Re: [Xen-users] DNS servers as guests?

Anyone running DNS servers as guests? Seems too slow unless I'm missing something. I can always keep secondary backup DNS servers as guests but as primaries, seems slow?

No problem here. At work I host about 600 zones on one primary server, single 2.4GHz vcpu (not dedicated), 256M RAM, around 32k queries/hour. Just done a few tests and got response times between 9 and 180 ms.

On the same physical server, I also run a resolver in a separate DomU. Again a non-dedicated single 2.4G vcpu, but 521M RAM - currently doing about 16k queries/hr but it does peak a lot higher. Again, no problem with performance.
