Can you login as a non-root user into DomU using ssh? If you can, then sshd is running in DomU. Look in /etc/ssh/sshd_config (or similar) and search for "PermitRootLogin". This parameter should be set to "yes". After editing the sshd_config file, you need to restart the sshd service for this change to take effect (`service sshd restart` or `/etc/init.d/sshd restart`, depending on your distro).
