Hi *
My host domain is running Scientific Linux 5.1 i386 (SL51), kernel 2.6.18-92.1.18.el5xen on a Quad Xeon box. SL51 installs Xen hypervisor v.3.0.3, and was already up and running when the machine passed to my hands.
[root@xxxx ~]# uname -a
Linux xxxx.xxxx.xx.xx 2.6.18-92.1.18.el5xen #1 SMP Wed Nov 12 07:30:18 EST 2008 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
[root@xxxx ~]# xm list

A LVM partition was created, as well as a volume group (enmr) and a logical volume.

Installed Scientific Linux 4.7 (i386) on domain goldenClient_sl47_x86_noX using the virt-manager v0.4.0 package, without apparent problems.
[root@xxxx ~]# xm list
Name ID Mem(MiB) VCPUs State Time(s)
Domain-0 0 3024 8 r----- 3453.4
goldenClient_sl47_x86_noX 8 512 2 r----- 2.3
When I want to access the domain just created, the console gets stuck with the following error:
[root@xxxx ~]# xm console goldenClient_sl47_x86_noX
rtc: IRQ 8 is not free.
i8042.c: No controller found.
Neverthess, I'm able to enter domain goldenClient_sl47_x86_noX using a console started from vrit-manager. I'm able to yum update the new domain, though I have other problems with the network configuration. Anyway, one problem at a time.
Searched the mailing list and it seems that several people had the same problem when trying to access a domain using "xm console" command. But, I just cannot find out a solution for this.
Thank you guys.
Cheers,
Nuno
P.S. I know that both Xen and virt-manager versions are a bit old, but these are the packages on the official repositories.
