this is a known bug with ubuntu 8.0.4 as indicated here:
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xen-tools/+bug/205450

so if you're using xen-tools to create your images, you will have to manually edit your xen .cfg files after each image creation.
