I think I may have encoutered a bug in Xen. I am using Xen as suplied by RHEL5. On this particular machine after a reboot I get an interfaceveth0 which has all the same ip settings as eth0. In this state no Xen instances hosted on this machine are accessible to the network. After a "service xend restart" the veth0 interface disappears and my Xen instances can see the network. I narrowed it down a little and found if I execute the following (from a screen to avoid my SSH connection dropping) then it also removes this duff interface. cd /etc/xen/scripts ./network-bridge stop;./network-bridge startWhen I reboot the machine, the misconfigured interface returns. It only happens on this particular server (which has three network interfaces installed on the motherboard). Here is an ifconfig -a output before and after: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:E0:81:43:9C:F6 inet addr:38.99.95.229 Bcast:38.99.95.255 Mask:255.255.255.128 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 duff veth0 interface and then clearing it on a xend restart? Of course the solution for now is to add a restart in my /etc/rc.local but I guess that is not ideal.
