If it's all zeros, then it would be dom0, otherwise a paravirtualized domU. To check whether it's a fully virtualized guest or not, you need to check the output of "dmidecode" from within the guest. An HVM guest's dmidecode should show as below Handle 0x0100 DMI type 1, 27 bytes.
