You could tweak the windows registry to not discover machines on the 
network.
regedit:


HKEY_LOCAL_USER
SOFTWARE
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion
Explorer
Advnaced

Add a DWORD, if not there, of NoNetCrawling and set the value to 1.
