Hi, I have performed a very simple binary installation of Xen 3.1 on RHEL 5 More specifically I did a groupinstall=base of RHEL5 on a file and create the virtual machine using hte config file below: Note that I used the Dom0 kernel to boot a RHEL 5 DomU as indicated in one previous post in the mailing list. Config file----------------- kernel = "/boot/vmlinuz-2.6-xen" ramdisk="/boot/initrd-2.6-xen.img" memory =256 name = "vm1" dhcp="dhcp" vcpus = 1 vif = [ '' ] disk = [ 'file:/vdisks/base.img,sda1,w','file:/vdisks/swap.img,sda2,w'] root = "/dev/sda1 ro" extra = "3" -------------------------------- I have ran into a couple of issues. Please see below: 1- I copied /lib/modules/* from Dom0 to DomU. Is there any other way to do this with RHEL5? I suppose that the libraries get installed if I use a RHEL5-xenU-x. rpm which is not available at the moment. Is this correct? 2- Related to the previous one--- rtc: IRQ 8 is not free. modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting rtc (/lib/modules/2.6.18-xen_3.1.0/kernel/drivers/char/rtc.ko): Input/output error I tried insmod and it did not work 3- I keep getting the warning on /lib/tls when booting up domU even though I have already moved the library to /lib/tls.disabled Any advice (specially on #1) 4-I also want to craete RHEL4u4 domUs but run into dependency issues when triying to install the rpm from xensource: [root@local]# rpm -ivh kernel-xenU-2.6.9-42.0.3.EL.xs0.4.0.263.i686.rpm error: Failed dependencies: kernel < 2.6.12 conflicts with initscripts-8.45.14.EL-1.i386 kernel < 2.6.17 conflicts with hal-0.5.8.1-19.el5.i386 kernel < 2.6.13 conflicts with kudzu-1.2.57.1.13-1.i386. kernel < 2.6.17 conflicts with autofs-5.0.1-0.rc2.42.i386 Any recipe to do this? cc _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
