Hi Everybody, Im using Linux since 1997, Gentoo since 2003 as my favorite system and want install XEN the first time on a IBM T60 Dual Core with 2GB RAM, 100GM Harddisk (Infos attached). The installation runs fine (xen.gz + gentoo-xen-kernel 2.6.16.28), but Im not able to start any (unmodified wit vt-enbled) DomU-Domains :-( Always there comes the message (copy of command line entries): brunello leo # /etc/init.d/xend start * Starting Xen control daemon ... [ ok ] brunello leo # cd /etc/ brunello etc # cd xen/ brunello xen # xm create winxp.hvm Using config file "winxp.hvm". VNC= 1 Error: Error connecting to xend: Name or service not known. Is xend running? brunello xen # VNC viewer for X version 4.0 - built Sep 20 2006 22:39:36 Copyright (C) 2002-2004 RealVNC Ltd. See http://www.realvnc.com for information on VNC. Ive permutated some options in my winxp.hvm file, but nothing works :-( Maybe xen isnt able to connect, not with vncviewer neither sdl (all tried). I have attached several configs hoping for help! If you need additional information, please let me know! Thx in advance, Oliver Short info to the system: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- brunello xen # uname -a Linux brunello 2.6.16.28-xen #8 SMP Thu Sep 21 18:27:45 CEST 2006 i686 Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz GNU/Linux brunello xen # cat /proc/cpuinfo processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 14 model name : Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz stepping : 8 cpu MHz : 1828.822 cache size : 2048 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 10 wp : yes flags : fpu tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic mtrr mca cmov pat clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe nx constant_tsc pni monitor vmx est tm2 xtpr bogomips : 3659.37 processor : 1 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 14 model name : Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz stepping : 8 cpu MHz : 1828.822 cache size : 2048 KB fdiv_bug : no hlt_bug : no f00f_bug : no coma_bug : no fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 10 wp : yes flags : fpu tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic mtrr mca cmov pat clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe nx constant_tsc pni monitor vmx est tm2 xtpr bogomips : 3659.37 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ brunello xen # eix ^xen * app-emulation/xen Available versions: 3.0.2 Installed: 3.0.2 Homepage: http://xen.sourceforge.net Description: The Xen virtual machine monitor * app-emulation/xen-tools Available versions: 3.0.2-r2 3.0.2-r3 Installed: 3.0.2-r3 Homepage: http://xen.sourceforge.net Description: Xend daemon and tools * sys-kernel/xen-sources Available versions: 2.6.16.26:2.6.16.26 2.6.16.26-r1:2.6.16.26-r1 2.6.16.28:2.6.16.28 Installed: 2.6.16.28 Homepage: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/Research/SRG/netos/xen/index.html Description: Full sources for a dom0/domU Linux kernel to run under Xen Found 3 matches. brunello xen # eix libsdl * media-libs/libsdl Available versions: 1.2.7-r3 1.2.8-r1 ~1.2.9 ~1.2.9-r1 1.2.11 Installed: 1.2.11 Homepage: http://www.libsdl.org/ Description: Simple Direct Media Layer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- grub.conf: default 0 timeout 30 splashimage=(hd0,1)/grub/splash.xpm.gz title=Xen 3.0.2 fuer Gentoo-2.6.16 root (hd0,1) kernel /xen.gz dom0_mem=1024M module /vmlinuz-2.6.16.28-xen vga=0x342 root=/dev/sda5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- # -*- mode: python; -*- #============================================================================ # Python configuration setup for 'xm create'. # This script sets the parameters used when a domain is created using 'xm create'. # You use a separate script for each domain you want to create, or # you can set the parameters for the domain on the xm command line. #============================================================================ import os, re arch = os.uname()[4] if re.search('64', arch): arch_libdir = 'lib64' else: arch_libdir = 'lib' #---------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Kernel image file. kernel = "/usr/lib/xen/boot/hvmloader" # The domain build function.
