Hi list, I am trying to install Xen on Debian, but it fails at boot time. Here is my setup: $ dpkg -l | grep xen ii libc6-xen 2.3.6.ds1-4 GNU C Library: Shared libraries (Xen version ii linux-image-2.6.17-2-xen-686 2.6.17-8 Linux 2.6.17 image on PPro/Celeron/PII/PIII/ ii linux-modules-2.6.17-2-xen-686 2.6.17-8 Linux 2.6.17 modules on PPro/Celeron/PII/PII ii xen-docs-3.0 3.0.2+hg9697-2.1 documentation for XEN, a Virtual Machine Mon ii xen-hypervisor-3.0-i386 3.0.2+hg9697-2.1 The Xen Hypervisor for i386 ii xen-tools 2.5-2 Tools to manage debian XEN virtual servers ii xen-utils-3.0 3.0.2+hg9697-2.1 XEN administrative tools The grub entry looks like this: title Xen 3.0-i386 / Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.17-2-xen-686 root (hd0,1) kernel /boot/xen-3.0-i386.gz module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.17-2-xen-686 root=/dev/hda2 ro console=tty0 module /boot/initrd.img-2.6.17-2-xen-686 savedefault The content of the /boot dir is as follows: $ ls /boot/ System.map-2.6.17-2-686 config-2.6.17-2-xen-686 initrd.img-2.6.17-2-686 vmlinuz-2.6.17-2-xen-686 System.map-2.6.17-2-xen-686 debian.bmp initrd.img-2.6.17-2-xen-686 xen-3.0-i386.gz config-2.6.17-2-686 grub vmlinuz-2.6.17-2-686 When I restart the computer and choose Xen in grub, I get lines prefixed with (XEN) on the screen. The last lines I can read are (XEN) VIRTUAL MEMORY ... ... (XEN) dom0 has max 1 VCPU (XEN) initrd ... (XEN) scrubing free RAM done (XEN) trace buffer disabled then the screen turns black and the computer reboots. I do not know where to look for a log of events (I copied the above by hand), nor what to do to get a better idea of what the problem is.
