Hello List,

I have a Xen server running as my web server. One of my processes gets this in his stderr-log about once a day:

*** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/ruby: free(): invalid next size (fast): 0x092229b0 ***

or even

*** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/ruby: malloc(): memory corruption: 0x098535b0 ***

(less frequently).

The process is at that moment in a weird limbo, not reacting to inbound tcp connections, but not consuming processor or memory resources, sleeping. I can't kill it, even as root. It says: Permission denied.

I am willing to provide any kind of detail, but first, let me ask this, dear fellow hackers: Can this be in any way related to the Xen virtualisation layer? Am I even in the right list?

best regards,
Kaspar Schiess - neotrivium.com
