I am new to Xen but so far I am very impressed. I am currently running a VMware ESX environment but I am setting up a Xen test environment to see if it will be feasible to switch to Xen for our production servers. I do have a question about running unmodified guests. I have Dell 2950 servers with Dual Dual-core woodcrest procs so I can use the VT extensions. I have been able to get Windows 2003 loaded as a guest on my Gentoo / Xen 3.0.2 host but I am not sure how to get an unmodified Linux loaded. I am sure there is something I am missing. I have tried booting to the Gentoo 2006.0 install CD from within a guest, like I did with Windows, but it always locks up. I get the same thing when I try FreeBSD 6. Should I be able to use the hvmloader to install an unmodified Linux or is there something I am missing? I can post more information, configs, logs, etc - I just wanted to make sure there isn't something obvious I am doing wrong first. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
