It's not mandatory to define ip and dns in the configuration files, once you configure them properly in the dom-U, as per the documentation of the dom-U os, it would work fine. I haven't defined ip address in any of my dom-U and they are working fine for me by only mentioning it in dom-U. If you want you can configure the ip address in dom-U config file, See the commented lines in sample config file, #By default, no network interfaces are configured.
