Hi list I am having several networking issues with Xen 3.0 STABLE. Running on Debian, both dom0 and domUs. First one is about the vifs. If we specify the vif for a domU, then IP communication shuts down between the dom0 and the domUs (and vice-versa), and between the domU's and the external world. However, dom0 with external world continues to work. Is it a well known issue? Second problem is the topology change. Whenever we unplug a cable along the path of the Xen connection, it detects the change, and disables its network. This is fine, I guess. However, the problem comes when you plug the cable back and network communication comes back up, it takes about 2mn to Xen to detect the topology change and to regain connectivity to the server. Is there a way to decrease the time it takes? Also, I seem to have arp issues. Sometime, a domU will forget a MAC from another domU, until a ping request is made for example, and the arp tables updated. Until some low-level "wake-up" such as ping is made, the network communication is down between the 2 domUs... Very odd indeed. I am unfortunately no network expert, so my words may not be adequate. In my case, an LDAP request needs to be made. I tcpdump'ed on both sides, and the request is not going on the wire.. looked at the arp table then, and the other server's MAC was not there, until I ping manually. I then retried the LDAP request, and it worked then. If someone would be kind enough to try to help me understand, and point in the right direction. The system it's running on is a pilot system. If all goes well, this should go into production soon. This is why the 3.0.0 stable version is used. Note that since 3.0.1 is out now, it may become stable enough by then... Thank you. fred _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users
