I did not take the time to investigate why my changes worked or even if all of them were necessary as I was in a rush to get Jorge a working installation but here they are for documentation purposes. I noticed there was a hunk failing in the patch. It looked like it was trying to patch in /usr/src/linux even though KERNELSRC had been provided in the command line arguments. I created a symbolic link from the xen kernel source to /usr/src/linux, patched (make ARCH=xen insert) and then was able to successfully run make ARCH=xen menuconfig. However, make ARCH=xen failed. It appeared to be upset by 1DES and some of the modular encryption and authentication algorithms so I simply disabled them all in my rush and it compiled perfectly - John -- John A.
