You need to use linux-2.6.18.tar.bz2 from upstream (ie. kernel.org). The linux-source package is modified for the distribution and likely won't work. Try using this for your Linux tar.bz: http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/linux-2.6.18.tar.bz2 If you don't pre-seed a Linux tar.bz2 into the build directories, the build process will attempt to wget the right version automatically.
