Right, that's what the post-commit-message remark says. The main goal is to be consistent in what we do. The primary reason for me to have chosen this route is that the compat header generation isn't really quick, compared to the rest of the build process. It is so slow that commit 7e9009891688 ("include: parallelize compat/xlat.h generation") was a significant (i.e. very noticeable) win. Jan
