Mine works fine:

 $  gcc -print-libgcc-file-name
/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/7/libgcc.a
 $  clang-3.8 -print-libgcc-file-name
/usr/bin/../lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/7/libgcc.a
