[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] [Xen-devel] Immediate reboot on Xen kernel 4.9.13 ->4.9.20 load, but non-Xen is OK
I started off my attempt to figure out what's going on with the centos-virt group as that is the Xen entry point I use for server. It was recommended to me to put my issue here. This is the beginging of the thread:
George suggested I seek help from xen-devel: Summary: Within about 2 seconds of starting the servers with the Xen enabled kernel, the server will reboot: The last few lines are NMI watchdog: disabled CPU0 hardware events not enabled NMI watchdog: shutting down hard lockup detector on all CPUS installing Xen timer for CPU1 installing Xen timer for CPU2 installing Xen timer for CPU3 installing Xen timer for CPU4 installing Xen timer for CPU5 installing Xen timer for CPU6 Here is the screen shot: It stops at CPU6. This is a dual socket server with 2x 6core L5639 CPUs (HT disabled). I'm surprised to see it stop at 6. There are 2 Dell R710 servers that have exhibited this issue now. One was running CentOS 6.8 the other CentOS 7.3. The R710 server has a clean install of CentOS 7.3 and still exhibits the issue described. I have 2 other R710 that are not being updated because they are more critical. The non-Xen enabled kernel 4.9.13-22.el7.x86_64 *does* boot, however: # awk -F\' '$1=="menuentry " {print i++ " : " $2}' /etc/grub2.cfg 0 : CentOS Linux, with Xen hypervisor 1 : CentOS Linux (4.9.13-22.el7.x86_64) 7 (Core) 2 : CentOS Linux (3.10.0-514.10.2.el7.x86_64) 7 (Core) 3 : CentOS Linux (0-rescue-ae7068154184447486235b0dbb9c2422) 7 (Core) So, "0" kernel option just goes into a reboot, but "1" boots correctly. I have one of the Dell R710's having this issue set aside to do any diagnosis that may need to be done. Is there any insight into this issue? Please forgive me if I have posted to the wrong list section and inform me of the proper location. Thanks in advance. pjwelsh _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@xxxxxxxxxxxxx https://lists.xen.org/xen-devel
