Whether the full eventual patch set introduce regressions I don't know - I would hope not, but you never know. The two patches discussed here do introduce at least what one could perceive as regression: A device previously passing through fine to a guest may all of the sudden no longer do so. But what I was trying to say above wasn't anything related to whether the patches introduce regressions, but that the patches don't _fix_ any regression - the brokenness was always there. All of the questions you raised further down are likely misaddressed at me - they would need answering by the respective patch authors.
