 - Fixes to Coverity issues CID 1229147 and CID 1229148

Patch 2:
 - V3 of safeguard against #GP patch.
 - Changes since V1:
    - Do not ignore return value from wrmsr_safe
 - Changes since V2:
    - Change of error handling and printing multiple error msg
      was unnecessary. So, remove it.
