I think these were actually somewhat orthogonal, there is a general
dislike of the existing stubdom setup, particularly the libc, which some
developers want to improve by using a better libc.

Other developers dislike the existing minios stuff even more and want to
use Linux instead, new minios libc or not.

Certainly IMHO it would have been possible to make qemu-xen work with
the existing stubdom stuff and the result would have been no worse than
the existing qemu-xen-trad port to minios (and there would likely have
been a chance to fixup some of the worst aspects). However since Anthony
did the work he gets to pick the approach.
