These changes from `*p++;' to `p++' are correct. But the description
is wrong. `*p++' is the same as `*(p++)' ie it increments p and then
uselessly dereferences it.

And this hunk seems entirely unexplained. Is it supposed to be a
const-correctness fix ? Stylistic improvement ?
