[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] [Xen-devel] Patch "genirq: Add IRQF_RESUME_EARLY and resume such IRQs earlier" has been added to the 2.6.32-longterm tree
This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled genirq: Add IRQF_RESUME_EARLY and resume such IRQs earlier to the 2.6.32-longterm tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/longterm/longterm-queue-2.6.32.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: genirq-add-irqf_resume_early-and-resume-such-irqs-earlier.patch and it can be found in the queue-2.6.32 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the 2.6.32 longterm tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From Ian.Campbell@xxxxxxxxxx Fri Nov 18 11:33:31 2011 From: Ian Campbell <Ian.Campbell@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed, 9 Nov 2011 08:53:09 +0000 Subject: genirq: Add IRQF_RESUME_EARLY and resume such IRQs earlier To: Greg KH <greg@xxxxxxxxx> Cc: Jiri Slaby <jslaby@xxxxxxx>, Greg KH <gregkh@xxxxxxx>, Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk <konrad.wilk@xxxxxxxxxx>, Jeremy Fitzhardinge <Jeremy.Fitzhardinge@xxxxxxxxxx>, Christoph Biedl <linux-kernel.bfrz@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, linux-kernel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, stable@xxxxxxxxxx, Jiri Slaby <jirislaby@xxxxxxxxx> Message-ID: <1320828790.16747.99.camel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> From: Ian Campbell <ian.campbell@xxxxxxxxxx> commit 9bab0b7fbaceec47d32db51cd9e59c82fb071f5a upstream This adds a mechanism to resume selected IRQs during syscore_resume instead of dpm_resume_noirq. Under Xen we need to resume IRQs associated with IPIs early enough that the resched IPI is unmasked and we can therefore schedule ourselves out of the stop_machine where the suspend/resume takes place. This issue was introduced by 676dc3cf5bc3 "xen: Use IRQF_FORCE_RESUME". Back ported to 2.6.32 (which lacks syscore support) by calling the relavant resume function directly from sysdev_resume). v2: Fixed non-x86 build errors.
