Doh!
I realised I hadn't checked the stock FC16 3.1.0-rc6 kernel as dom0,
booted it under Xen and it crahes in exactly the same way, so it wan't
Konrad's mutex patch that did it at all, I'll revert to rc5 and try
your patch on that, meanhile I've logged a bug
