I confess I don't follow this patch in its entirety but it seems safe enough in the sense that it's not going to affect users who aren't using vscsi. We are winding down xend maintenance in favour of the new libxl library and xl command line tool. xl is supposed to be commandline compatible with xm. So you should probably check that libxl does the right thing with your setups. I'll apply your patch.
