  • Thread-topic: Problems Running Xenoprofile w/ Passive Domains

I would like to perform some passive domain profiling using oprofile-0.9.6 + the passive domains patch in ‘oprofile-0.9.3-xen-r2.patch’.  Both 0.9.6 and 0.9.5 are giving the same error message, shown below, when the profiling daemon is started.  My searches show that this is a known problem but no fixes have been offered.

Does anyone know of a fix or workaround for this?  I am running xen-4.1 + pvops 2.6.31.13 dom0 x86_64 on a Nehalem based server.

[root@GreenCity01 oprofile-0.9.6]# opcontrol --start-daemon --xen=/boot/xen-syms-4.1-unstable --passive-domains=2 --passive-images=/home/winterfi/ios/ngma-l3is-m --vmlinux=/var/tmp/vmlinux

/usr/local/bin/opcontrol: line 1401: /dev/oprofile/passive_domains: Permission denied

Error: counter 0 not available nmi_watchdog using this resource ? Try:

opcontrol --deinit

echo 0 > /proc/sys/kernel/nmi_watchdog
