As a follow-up to this thread ( http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2009-05/threads.html#00635 ), I noticed that all my Xen tests succeeded on a Xen HVM, but I have the same boot problem on physical hardware (Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L motherboard). People reported the 2.6.18.8 kernel from source works, but it would be great if anyone had ideas for this previously good kernel. Both systems are running the latest Debian Lenny AMD64 with kernel 2.6.26-2-xen-amd64. Among other things, I notice the "boot video device" line is missing. **Xen 3.4.0 + Lenny dom0 physical** [ 0.462917] io scheduler noop registered [ 0.462917] io scheduler anticipatory registered [ 0.462917] io scheduler deadline registered [ 0.462917] io scheduler cfq registered (default) [ 0.462917] assign_interrupt_mode Found MSI capability [ 0.462917] no ownder ...hang... **Xen 3.4.0 + Lenny domO HVM** [ 0.452473] io scheduler noop registered [ 0.452879] io scheduler anticipatory registered [ 0.453295] io scheduler deadline registered [ 0.453743] io scheduler cfq registered (default) [ 0.454182] pci 0000:00:00.0: Limiting direct PCI/PCI transfers [ 0.454656] pci 0000:00:01.0: PIIX3: Enabling Passive Release [ 0.455113] pci 0000:00:01.0: Activating ISA DMA hang workarounds [ 0.455637] pci 0000:00:02.0: Boot video device ...success... **Xen 3.3.1 + Lenny dom0 physical** [ 0.462917] io scheduler noop registered [ 0.462917] io scheduler anticipatory registered [ 0.462917] io scheduler deadline registered [ 0.462917] io scheduler cfq registered (default) [ 0.462917] pci 0000:01:00.0: Boot video device [ 0.462917] PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:01.0 to 64 [ 0.462917] assign_interrupt_mode Found MSI capability [ 0.462917] no ownder [ 0.462917] Allocate Port Service[0000:00:01.0:pcie00] [ 0.462917] Allocate Port Service[0000:00:01.0:pcie03] [ 0.462917] PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:1c.0 to 64 [ 0.462917] assign_interrupt_mode Found MSI capability [ 0.462917] no ownder [ 0.462917] Allocate Port Service[0000:00:1c.0:pcie00] [ 0.462917] Allocate Port Service[0000:00:1c.0:pcie02] [ 0.462917] Allocate Port Service[0000:00:1c.0:pcie03] [ 0.462917] PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:1c.3 to 64 [ 0.462917] assign_interrupt_mode Found MSI capability [ 0.462917] no ownder [ 0.462917] Allocate Port Service[0000:00:1c.3:pcie00] [ 0.462917] Allocate Port Service[0000:00:1c.3:pcie02] [ 0.462917] Allocate Port Service[0000:00:1c.3:pcie03] [ 0.462917] PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:1c.4 to 64 [ 0.462917] assign_interrupt_mode Found MSI capability [ 0.462917] no ownder [ 0.462917] Allocate Port Service[0000:00:1c.4:pcie00] [ 0.462917] Allocate Port Service[0000:00:1c.4:pcie02] [ 0.462917] Allocate Port Service[0000:00:1c.4:pcie03] ...success...
