Are you using xen-unstable or testing? As for xen-unstable, there were big changes to xentrace a few days ago, both inside Xen and userspace tools. I suspect you are running an unstable xen with *stale* userspace 'xentrace'. Please make sure you have rebuilt 'tools' as well.
