Yep, >=4GB definitly used to work (though only 4GB is usable), so it must be something we've broken fairly recently, or be quite hardware specific. We'll see if we can reproduce locally, alternatively, please can you add some debugging to alloc_boot_pages in page_alloc.c. Specifically it would be good to print size and align, and to print out the values of pg and i before the test for i==size.
