After having reproduced the crash several times, I was able to identify that my
suspicion concerning the network traffic seemed to be right. The hypervisor was
crashing while receiving data from the network (-bridge). I've checked what
type of (on-board) NICs Dell is using with this server. LSPCI showed me that 2
Broadcom-NetXtreme compatible chipsets were used as on-board network
interfaces. As I remembered that this NIC was reported to behave unstable with
XEN earlier, I disabled the on-board NICs and plugged in a E1000 card. Since
that time the system wasn't crashing anymore even when running under heavy
network traffic.
